Text Box: Welcome

Let's hear a BIG AH-OO-GA for the Newest Members to the

Capitol A's

Patricia McDaniel

Pat is a native Californian from Jackson, who went to school with our own Al Piccardo. She retired after 35 years as a school teacher and volleyball coach. Her passion is horses, specifically in the draft.
Pat will be the project manager on the restoration of owner financier’s Pam Wittpen’s 1931- 5 Window Standard Coupe.
Pat participated in the introduction to Model A’s class at the
CAM in September. There she met several of our club members
who were the instructors. After being given the opportunity to
drive Paul Menz’s Model A, she decided to join our club.

DENNIS & MARY WESTCOT

Dennis and Mary Westcot have been married for 39 years. They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren (3 in Oregon and 3 in California). Dennis is a native Californian. He has worked for the State of California Water Board and also serves as an administrator for 9 different water districts between Davis and San Francisco. His interests include woodworking, traveling, and, of course, old cars. He recently participated in an Introduction to Model A‟s Class at the CAM where he met several of our club members who were the instructors. Dennis was impressed with their knowledge of the Model A and their enthusiasm for the Capitol A‟s Club. After being given the opportunity to drive a Model A during the class he decided to join our club. Mary hails from Kansas and enjoys traveling with her husband and watching and playing with her grandchildren. For the last 15 years she has worked for the Davis Energy Group, “a think tank”; she enjoys the challenge of her work. Dennis and Mary do not own a Ford Model A at this point, but they are very anxious to find the perfect Coupe for them. Welcome to the Capitol A‟s Dennis and Mary! We look forward to seeing you drive up in your Coupe soon.

DALE AND DEBBIE PATTERSON

Dale and Debbie have been married for 30 years. Both Dale and Debbie were born in Northern California and they grew up in the Redding area. For the last eight years the couple has lived in Winters, California. Dale was an aircraft mechanic in the service for 27 years and now works as a civilian at Travis Air Force Base. Debbie also works at Travis as a Human Resources Employee. They have a 29 year old son who is a firefighter in Washington, D.C. Debbie and Dale enjoy cars, boating, fishing, camping, and music.
After viewing the Carmichael Fourth of July Parade with the Capitol A’s on display, the couple wanted their car to sparkle and perform “just like all of ours.” They own a 1930 DeLuxe Coupe that was given to Debbie upon her birth by her grandfather. Dale is currently restoring the Coupe and requests a seminar to help him get it in running order. We look forward to assisting the Pattersons and hope to see them on the road in their Coupe soon.

JOHN AND SHIRLEY JACKSON

John and Shirley have been married for fifty-seven years. John worked for the government doing heavy construction. Shirley worked in the Sears telephone distribution center. The couple make their home in Wilton. Their hobbies are traveling and gardening. They have a Pomeranian dog that is a constant companion and 4 cats that have the run of their household. Of course, they have an interest in old cars and enjoy driving their 1928 Model A Sedan that reportedly runs well. Unfortunately, Shirley fell recently and had a hip replacement. She will be in rehab for a couple of months. After her successful recuperation, we look forward to having them join the Capitol A’s on a tour in their Sedan.

 Welcome to the Capitol A’s.

Text Box: A Message From Your President:

My first general meeting is in the books and I hope it was
enjoyable for all those who attended.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered for the many ongoing jobs
that are important to the continued vitality of our club. In fact we had
two people volunteer for Merchandise chairperson at the end of the meeting and they decided to share the position. A list of who volunteered for what is posted in this issue of the Ahooga.

You will notice that list has one blank spot next to Tour Director. Jaye Lowe, who has shouldered that position for the last two years, is stepping aside and we need someone to take her place. The Tour Director is more of a coordinator who assists others in developing their tours and keeping track of the tour schedule not necessarily a tour leader. A job description for Tour Director is also posted in this copy of the Ahooga. I will be looking for someone to step up and put their name in
that slot at the February meeting.

Finally, be sure to keep in your thoughts and prayers the members of our Capitol A’s family who are dealing with some very serious health issues. Positive energy directed their way can be very powerful and comforting. I speak from personal experience.

I hope to see all of you at our February meeting.
Let’s advance the spark in 2012.
Paul
